Australia: Australia ranks sixth in the world in wine production, and Shiraz is one of its most popular. It has dark fruit flavors from sweet blueberry to savory black olive, a very full-bodied taste, and contains high amounts of healthy antioxidants. Try the award-winning Jacob’s Creek Shiraz from Southeastern Australia.
California: Chardonnay is the world’s most famous white wine grape, but chardonnays from California are among the most highly regarded. We recommend the award-winning Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Chardonnay. It pairs well with mild cheeses, seafood, chicken, pork and fruity desserts.
Chile: For a delicious medium-bodied red wine, try the excellent Montes Purple Angel Carménère from Chile’s Colchagua Valley. It is treasured for its red-and-black berry flavors and notes of green peppercorn and is similar in body and texture to Merlot. It pairs well with nearly every type of food.
France: We enjoy the award-winning 2010 Chateau Bernadotte, a beautiful deep red Bordeaux Blend from the Haut-Medoc region of Bordeaux in southwestern France. More fine wine is produced per acre in this region than almost anywhere else in the world.
New Zealand: Sauvignon Blanc is one of the driest, crispest white wines and is now the benchmark white wine of New Zealand, where it has intense green citrus and berry fruit flavors. The award-winning Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairau Valley is a great choice.
South Africa: Treat yourself or your guests to a delicious red wine – the award-winning Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir from the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley in Walker Bay. It features strong, oaky overtones and is considered a moderately dry medium-to-light bodied wine.
Spain: Monastrell is a deep, dark, full-bodied wine that is native to Spain. It’s considered an Old World European wine and is often enjoyed by people who love Cabernet Sauvignon. Try the award-winning Bodegas El Nido ‘Clio’ from Murcia, Spain.
